Valencia’s new boss – Javi Garcia

Javi Garcia has officially become Valencia’s new head coach after signing a two-year contract with LaLiga side. The club’s owner Peter Lim has given President Anil Murthy the green light to begin appointing former Watford coach. Garcia convinced Valencia’s directors with his vision for the club in an interview last week. This new project aims to return to the Champions League side and build a team of young people who will be committed to Valencia. Garcia, who hasn’t had a coaching job since September 2019, managed to clinch promotion with Cadiz back in 2008/09. Four years later, he did the same with Almeria, where he met the current technical secretary of Valencia, Miguel Angel Corona.

After an unexpected drop to LaLiga Smartbank with Osasuna. Garcia moved to Malaga, which faced heavy transfer restrictions at the time. At the Andalusian side, he built a good relationship with their owner, Sheikh Al Thani, and worked a lot with young players, finishing ninth there then eighth in his two seasons. Following Malaga, he campaigned at Rubin Kazan before moving to Watford, who helped secure the Premier League in 2018/19 and led them to the FA Cup final. The Premier League side fired him last September after a poor start to the season.
